EDIT:  Realized that this needs a 0.3 mm wall thickness to print without artifacting.  Just letting you guys know.

The idea for this fidget spinner is threefold.

  1. I'm really digging designing print-in-place mechanical objects right now.

  2. I wanted to try a double-barreled print-in-place "bearing" to see if it works better than the single.

  3. I had an idea for using the design to hack the infill to create a spinner that was weighted on the outer edge.

So, the concentric circle designs are the idea I came up with.  Their is a .2 mm space between each ring, just tight enough to stay put when printed in my Anet A8 printer.  What, hypothetically, should happen is that the printer will print at almost 100% infill on the outer wings, and, if I set the print infill to 10 or 20%, the spinner should have the majority of the density distributed to the outer edge, helping it spin longer.

I have not tried to print this yet.  Cura said it will be a 15-hour print, so I will most likely wait for the weekend when I can keep an eye on it.

If any of you decide to print this, please share your results, as I am interested to see how it turns out.
