"A lasgun was a continuous-wave laser projector weapon that was perhaps the most widely used hand weapon in the Imperium. It commonly took the form of a pistol or rifle. Its firing pattern was typically a constant, narrow beam, but the nozzle could sometimes be adjusted to alter the width and spread of the beam. Its power source was a cell cartridge that could be replaced when depleted.

Lasguns were the preferred weapon for armies. However, when shields were being employed, lasguns were generally not used because contact reaction between a lasgun beam and a shield created a nuclear explosion that often killed everyone within a large radius."

  • [Lasgun Entry on the DuneWiki]

Even though the purpose of them was greatly downplayed to put an emphasis on swordsmanship and martial arts, I've always been intrigued by the Lasguns from Dune, the inherent mystery and intrigue that came with the weapon and its potential in warfare. I based the design on the "Sardaukar Laser Gun" toy from the 1984 film's toyline, and also made a custom grip with the Atreides logo, though also a blank grip for anyone interested in designing their own grip.

I designed this to simply be glued/soldered together and painted, as I have done. I have also included a "deconstruction" of the barrel in case you want to try a more intricate approach, listed as "HollowBarrel" and "HollowBarrelInstert".
