This is a model of the U212A/Todaro Class submarine of the German and Italian navies.
I found some picture of a paper model of this submarine and I decided to make a big one with my printer.

The final model has a length of about 50 cm, so it is divided in several section. Every section has a joint to make it easy to connect it with the adjacent sections.

Notes:

These are the general parameters I used.
Set the resolution of section 7 to 0.1 mm at the top in rder to better render the spheric shape
Sections 7,6,3,2 can be printed at high speed (I used 80 mm/sec and 210° of temperature )
Sections 5 and 4 must be printed a bit slower (50 mm/sec and 190°) to avoid vibrations around the details. I also reduced the resolution of section 5 to 0.15mm to get a better rendering of the double curvature of the turret front.
All the sections can be printed with 0 top/bottom solid layers except Section7 where at least 3 layers must be used.
Put Central joint between Section5 and Section4
Put Stern Joint between Section1 and Section0

How I Designed This

I designed the model using FreeCAD and I tryed to make it similar to the real one as much as possible using pictures found in internet. Maybe some detail is not as accurate as I would like, but I could not find pictures of every detail.

This is a work in progress: I'm still figuring out how to design and print the 7 blades propeller..

Right side pre assembled (no glue) Section 4 and 5 have been printed at high speed and some vibrations can be seen.

Left side (meanwhile section5 is being re-printed at lower speed...)
