This is a detailed (and large) model of the Chinese Chang'e Moon Lander.

The pin connector system means that many parts are articulated. The solar panels fold, and the ramp for deploying the rover unfolds.

This is roughly based on the first lander, but it is very similar to the one currently exploring the dark side of the Moon.

This model was first posted on Autodesk's now defunct 123D website.

The files for the Yutu rover are posted separately, here: Yutu rover

Yes

Notes:

This is a large model and it may not fit on some printers.

The chassis is available both as one piece, and in four pieces that are printable on a Makerbot.

Given the large size of some of the parts, I recommend using helper disks to prevent warping. Support should also be enabled when printing the chassis sections and the landing gear.

Post-Printing

Assembly should be straightforward. The Chang'e lander requires the 15mm pins. I don't have an exact count, but they are small so you should print many. The .thing file attached has the correct number of pins for both Chang'e and Yutu.
