I really liked the original design of these by Ecoiroas, but just wished they had more grip strength. This is a quick hack I did to his original model where I shortened the piston rail gear and realigned it a little bit so that the gear isn't totally engaged when the jaws are making contact. This way it gives you a little bit of room to apply some more force. They do seem to have a noticeably stronger grip (but nothing amazing still, the gears flex out with too much force)
The jaws on these don't open all the way back like the original, but they do open out about as wide as you would expect. See photo.
PETG is probably a good idea as it is is less brittle..
