This is a model of the famous little jet from the 70s, well known for it's appearance in the James Bond movie "Octopussy" where it can be seen flying through a hangar. The 3D model was made by myself with Fusion 360. All dimensions incl. wing thickness etc. are true to scale. The wing profile is realistic and even has washout.

The model will be used for an electric powered RC version in the near future.

STL files are ready to print without support. I used PLA 0.15mm layer height on a Prusa i3 Mk3 and glued the parts after printing.

There are two different versions of the Aircraft included. The one called "Bede5_Aircraft_Pin_RTP.stl" has a hole in the bottom for the stand. The model can be rotated on the stand.

Printing the STL files at 100% will result in a model with 210 mm wingspan making it roughly 1:25 scale to the real BD-5J with 17ft wingspan. The fuselage is 155 mm long.

How I Designed This

I found this drawing: http://www.greenairdesigns.com/ejcgallery/albums/userpics/10002/bd5j_3v.jpg and imported it in Fusion 360. Then I sculpted the fuselage starting with a cylinder, later adding the tip and engine nozzle. The main wing was a seperate body in the beginning which got welded to the fuselage later when I was working on the transition. Until now the most time was invested in the wing/fuselage transition. Tail section and canopy was a piece of cake ;-)
