This is one of my first purely sculptural pieces, inspired by an ostrich egg that I acquired about 20 years ago.
To duplicate this effort you'll need a real ostrich egg, (though I have included one as an .stl just in case.)
You will also need some liquid latex and some sand.
Egg, sand and latex can be found on Amazon.

I have included a base to keep the egg from rolling around. it is not fancy, only functional.
I recommend looking into some of the beautiful candle holders by other Thingiverse artists for a stand of your own. Just remember, the eggs are not perfectly cylindrical so you'll probably need to modify the top of the holder just a bit to keep the egg stable.

Post-Printing

HOW I DID IT:
First  (if using the real ostrich egg -if not skip to the end) I poured a small amount of liquid latex into the ostrich egg through the hole used to drain the egg.
I then turned the egg thoroughly to ensure the latex coverd the entire surface of the inside of the egg, then allowed it to dry. I needed to repeat this step a few times.
The goal was to achieve an approximate 1-2 mm skin on the inside surface of the egg.
Then with an awl I carefully chipped out a hole large enough for some small nippers which I then used to make a hole large enough for the dragon to emerge from.
I was careful to leave the latex as intact as possible.
I put a few strategically placed cuts in the latex to give the appearance the hatchling was tearing through.

END: I filled the egg with sand, placed the stakes in the pieces, and pushed them into the sand.
This kept the three separate parts from shifting around.

P.S. not shown in the image yet, I plan to heavily polyurethane each piece to give the final model a wet drippy look. Maybe I'll post a new pic later...
