A 247% larger model split into printable size chunks that would fit on my modified Prusa i3 which has a 254mm X 254mm X 254mm print envelope

Print Settings

Printer:

X3REX modified Prusa i3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.3mm layer height / .1mm layer height

Infill:

50%

Notes:

Print the city blocks with .3mm layer height to reduce printing time
Print the spheres with .1mm layer height for maximum resolution
Total print time was 48 hours and 38 minutes and used ??kg of ABS filament

Post-Printing

Put a short piece of 3mm filament into the pilot hole of one of the large sphere halves and glue the two halves together.  Then glue the large sphere to the top of Reunion tower on the West End.

Glue the smaller sphere, "Giant Eyeball" into the square hole on Elm Street in the South Central section of the city.

The parts then all go together like a puzzle.

How I Designed This

I imported the original stl file into SketchUp and scaled it up 247%.  I then painstakingly cleaned up the file so that I could separate it into printable sized chunks.

What I could have done better

Two things would have made this a better project:  making the sections interlock, and separating out the buildings by size for better printing.

The pieces all fit together fine, but they are easily bumped out of place.  If they were interlocking, I wouldn't have that problem.

A couple of the taller buildings got a little gooey when printing the tops because the layers didn't have sufficient time to cool and solidify before the next layer started printing.  I should have extracted the taller buildings and printed them all together in one print job to resolve this problem.
